Spring Closet Clean Out

Spring Closet Clean Out!

It’s officially Spring! One of my all time favorite things to do at the beginning of the season is Spring cleaning. There’s nothing better than organizing and getting rid of unwanted clutter to start off the season fresh.

My favorite project to tackle during spring cleaning is my closet. There’s no doubt that throughout the year, our closets can get disorganized and cluttered which can make it so difficult to find anything.

Below, I’ve gathered a few of my key go-to organizing hacks that will make your closet organized and functional.

Step 1: Get yourself a rolling rack and take all of your clothes out of your closet. Set on a rolling rack (or two) and divide your clothes into 3 piles. Keep, donate, throw away.
Pro Tip: If you haven’t worn something in a year, get rid of it!
If it is gently used or new, bring it to the WearHouse for some fast cash!

Step 2: Be mindful when putting items back into your closet.
Keep staples along with pieces that you love and wear
Use velvet hangers to save space and avoid pieces from slipping.
Use baskets, containers and hooks for items that don’t necessarily have to be hung.

Step 3: If you have a smaller closet, keep items that are only in season in your closet.
Store off season clothes in containers or vacuum sealed bags.

Step 4: Add a “Snag area”
This is a designated spot in your closet that is easy to access where you can “snag” your outfit for the morning without having to hunt through your closet. If you are in a time crunch in the AM, it’s a good idea to pick your clothes the night before and have it ready to go in your snag area!

Don’t forget, bring your gently used clothes to the WearHouse at Gee Loretta and if you need to freshen up and replace a few pieces in your wardrobe to get you through the season, come shop with us!

Happy organizing!
